Rodrigo’s primary interest is the response of glacial and fluvial systems to climate changes and their interaction with lithospheric processes. This includes tectonics, isostasy, and mountain denudation as well as the construction of modern landscapes. Rodrigo’s secondary focus is time dependence of sedimentary processes in addition to fluvial and coastal source-to-sink flux of sediments. His study areas comprise Antarctica, Patagonia, Greenland, and the Gulf of Mexico.
