Title: Mapping ice motion beyond the Greenland ice sheet’s margins with SAR
Host: Mikayla Pascual
Abstract: As the climate continues to warm, sea-level rise is projected to impact hundreds of millions of people globally over the next century. While projections for the next few decades offer a relatively high degree of certainty at both global and regional scales, longer-term forecasts (particularly toward the end of the century) are characterized by significant uncertainties that complicate decision-making and policy planning. The contribution of the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets is a significant source of uncertainty on these longer time scales in many locations, although ocean sterodynamic effects can also be a large contributor in certain locations. In this presentation, I will highlight current and future research efforts aimed at narrowing the uncertainty in projections through the use of satellite observations.
