GRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Jonathan Markel applies space-based remote sensing to measure global coastal topography in high-resolution. He previously earned a B.S. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, and is especially interested in using satellites to monitor global sea level rise-induced coastal change. His current research focused on using imaging, lidar, and radar observations to model seasonal and event-driven bathymetric evolution in optically complex waters. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his dog, live music, and cycling.
INTERESTS: coastal change, satellite remote sensing, nearshore sediment dynamics
