GRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Jacob’s research involves tracking the geomorphology and behavior of barrier islands in response to rising sea levels. To do this, he studies ancient, now-extinct offshore barrier island systems to understand the mechanisms controlling the stabilization or migration of the paleoshoreline. This includes applying seismic stratigraphic methods and lithofacies analyses through the integration of geologic (piston cores, gravity cores) and geophysical (2D CHIRP, 3D seismic) datasets.
INTERESTS
marine geophysics, seismic stratigraphy, barrier island/estuarine stratigraphy, transgressive incised valley fill
