Russell’s research aimed to characterize and interpret the environments of planetary bodies to further understand their geologic evolutionary processes. His project focused on deciphering the Martian surface and near-surface with radar statistics. These included the search for ice deposits, the search for near-surface brines, the search for lava tubes, as well as landing site selection support.
