The TSGC Design Challenge & Symposium is a unique workforce development experience offering undergraduate students an opportunity to propose, design, and fabricate a solution toward solving research objectives of importance to NASA and its mission. Our Fall 2026 Showcase & Symposium brings two days of innovation and ingenuity from 200 students from across the state of Texas.
This Fall, we are highlighting 50 non-Design Challenge students in our first Student Symposium to showcase their space-related research for the chance to win one of two $500 scholarships in the following categories:
| Engineering, Technology & Space Systems | Aerospace/mechanical/electrical engineering, spacecraft and habitats, robotics, propulsion, power systems, communications, sensors, manufacturing, autonomous systems |
| Human Health, Biology & Human Factors | Space medicine, physiology, exercise countermeasures, radiation effects, biotechnology, life-support systems, psychology, ergonomics, EVA, food and nutrition, crew performance |
| Astronomy & Astrophysics | Stars and galaxies, cosmology, exoplanets, heliophysics, magnetospheres, space weather, observational astronomy, instrumentation |
| Planetary Science & Exploration | Moon, Mars and other planetary bodies; geology, geochemistry, astrobiology, planetary atmospheres, regolith, in-situ resource utilization |
| Earth Science, Geophysics & Remote Sensing | Geophysics, atmospheric science, oceans, climate, hydrology, natural hazards, satellite observations, GIS, Earth-observation data and applications |
| Computational, Data & Interdisciplinary STEM | AI/machine learning, scientific computing, data analytics, modeling and simulation, visualization, cybersecurity, software, mathematics, novel technologies and interdisciplinary research |
