Dear UTIG Seminar Speakers:
The University of Texas Institute for Geophysics (UTIG) Seminar Committee would like to thank you for agreeing to present your research in our weekly seminar series. The UTIG Seminar Series is a forum of cutting-edge earth and planetary sciences attended by UTIG scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students. We invite leading scientists around the U.S. and beyond to present results from their recent research projects every semester.
UTIG is an academic research center that covers a wide range of geophysical research fields, including marine geology/geophysics, seismology, tectonics, cryosphere, planetary, and climate sciences (please see the research page on UTIG website). Although we welcome deep exploration of your research topics, we would like you to be mindful of the audience with diverse research specialties when preparing your presentation. It would be helpful to spend some time to introduce the scientific questions being addressed in a broad context before getting into the core of your research. It is also a good idea to explain any specialized tools, concepts, and graphics during the presentation even though they may be standard in your research field.
The seminar is normally held 10:30-11:30 AM Friday mornings in a large auditorium (ROC 1.603) located on the first floor of the Research Office Complex on UT Pickle Research Campus. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are following a flexible hybrid format, with in person seminars when conditions allow and all seminars (in person or remote) streamed on Zoom.
Your presentation will be recorded and archived on the UTIG seminar webpage. Talks should be completed within 45-50 minutes and followed by a 10-minute question session. Besides the seminar presentation, we would like to organize online meetings and social events, time permitting. Please make yourselves available on the scheduled dates.
We appreciate your time and effort to share your exciting research with us. Should you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to your visit.
Sincerely,
The UTIG Seminar Committee
