Postdoctoral Fellow
Abdo was born and raised in Giza, the greater Cairo, Egypt. He has B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, and a M.Sc. in Structural Engineering, both from Cairo University, Egypt. Upon his completion of his M.Sc., he moved to North Carolina State University (NCSU) at Raleigh, NC to pursue his Ph.D. During his Ph.D., he worked on 4 research projects in the field of computational mechanics and inverse problems (seismic and biomedical imaging), published several journal papers in top-tier journals, filed a patent on his work on shear wave elastography, interned at Idaho National Laboratory (INL), and acquired an M.Sc. degree in applied mathematics from the same university. Abdo graduated with Ph.D. in Civil Engineering in 2023.
Interests
Image reconstruction through deep learning, full-waveform inversion (FWI), nonlinear optimization, shear wave elastography, least-squares migration (LSM).
