
About the Position
The candidate will be part of a research team, led by Prof. Mrinal Sen, engaged in cutting edge research on solving subsurface imaging problems using advanced techniques of full waveform modeling, inversion and uncertainty quantification. The team has also been developing physics-based machine learning algorithms for three dimensional seismic modeling, imaging and inversion using high performance computation including parallelization on GPUs.
Responsibilities
- The research fellow will be engaged in the development of hybrid optimization methods for seismic inversion in anisotropic media and their efficient applications to active and passive source seismic data.
- Present results to the scientific community and broader public.
- Publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Geophysics, Physics, Earth Sciences, Applied Mathematics or a related field. Ph.D. must have been earned within the past three years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some post-doctoral research experience.
- Ability to perform independent laboratory research and collaborate effectively.
- Strong background in large scale seismic simulations and inversion, and high performance computation as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications.
Salary Range
$65,000
